PYRENEES
Remotness with a French touch !
The French Pyrenees
Hautacam, Luz Ardiden, Soulor, Aubisque, Tourmalet, Gavarnie, and Col de Tentes to name a few are all within reach, each offering their own unique character.
All these jewels are right next door to the Cycle Coffee Society guest house in Argelès-Gazost an ideal base to conquer each of them.
With few crowds and a raw atmosphere, the Pyrenees deliver a calm and soulful riding experience.

Col de Tentes
The Col de Tentes rises above the village of Gavarnie to 2,208 m, offering one of the most dramatic dead-end climbs in the French Pyrenees, surrounded by the towering walls of the Cirque de Gavarnie.
The quiet road, averaging around 8%, rewards riders with raw, high-mountain beauty just steps from the Spanish border.
The area will take the spotlight during Stage 6 of the 2026 Tour de France, which finishes in nearby Gavarnie-Gèdre, bringing the pro peloton into this legendary valley.

Luz Ardiden
The Luz Ardiden is a classic Tour de France summit finish rising above the village of Luz-Saint-Sauveur. The 13 km climb averages around 8%, with a perfect sequence of hairpins that carve up the mountainside. It’s a steady, scenic ascent that delivers both flow and challenge, ending at a ski station perched high above the valley — a pure Pyrenean climb that rewards every turn of the pedal.

Hautacam
The Hautacam climb starts from Argelès-Gazost, winding up to 1,520 m through peaceful mountain roads and open pastures. Known for its irregular gradients and punchy ramps, it’s a climb that tests both rhythm and determination. The summit rewards you with sweeping views over the valley and a true sense of Pyrenean solitude. A recurring and unpredictable battleground in the Tour de France.
