La Redoute
The Iconic Road of the Ardennes Classics
La Redoute, Remouchamps
Tucked in the Ardennes near Liège, the Côte de La Redoute in Remouchamps is a legendary climb
One of the most iconic cycling roads in Belgium. A place where racing history, local culture and pro cycling meet..

Why the name La Redoute ?
The Côte de La Redoute takes its name from an old military “redoubt” that once stood near the top of the climb.
A redoubt was a small fortified defensive structure, often used as a strategic lookout point or military position. In the Ardennes region, several of these fortifications existed historically to oversee the valleys and important crossing routes.
Over time, the name remained attached to the area long before the road became famous in the cycling world. Today, when cyclists talk about “La Redoute”, they immediately think of the iconic climb in Remouchamps.

The scene of some of the greatest attacks
Known for its steep gradients and relentless rhythm, La Redoute has shaped some of cycling’s most memorable moments over the years.
From legendary attacks by Michele Bartoli and Philippe Gilbert to more recent battles featuring Remco Evenepoel and Tadej Pogačar, the climb has become a true landmark of the Ardennes classics season.
Year after year, riders return to these roads before race week, scouting every corner and preparing for the intensity of the Belgian hills.
