Belgian Gravel

After a busy summer it was time to jump on our gravel bikes again for a proper gravel loop !

Together with Thomas Cremer @tomcre , Julien Stassen @tchang_stassen @Jeroen_van_schelven we gathered at the water dam of Eupen at the footsteps of the Hautes Fagnes region and followed a route shared by our friend Lionel Syne, local ex pro rider and gravel enthusiast from Stavelot.

The route took us gently up to the Hautes Fagnes plateau crossing this beautiful area passing one of the best stretches of gravel ( km 15,6 ) we would call highlight 1,  partly following groads that are on the Hautes Fagnes Gravel gpx route and well know @dirtyboar gravel event as well.

Halfway after crossing the German border in Lammersdorf you will find a bakery which might be the only option for a ” coffee ” and pastry stop.
From here you will cross several lakes and dams and the highlight 2 of this route ( km 59 ) a joyable single track following a tiny stream section between the L12 road ( Est ) going toward the lake of #dreilägerbachtalsperre ( West ) near Roetgen ( DE )
After reaching back to the Eupen dam after a 3h30 ride, we drove our cars up the Baraque Michel to the Peak Brasserie  ‘ the highest brewed beer of Belgium ‘ also served at Le Coffee Ride for a fine Beer and lunch !

All though 90 % of this ride is proper clear gravel, there are a few technical section in the ride that request some kind of off road skills, make sure to take your time gowing down these section and be well equipped.
