During the summer of 2018, Brian Megens opened a very nice Cycling Café at the bothem of the famous Cauberg climb from the Dutch spring classic “Amstel Gold Race “. Having met each other for a coffee at his place the idea came to organize a ride of 158 km with 2.223 m of climbing from his place to us and back.
The ride would be a bit unusual as it would be a sunset ride to Le Coffee Ride and a night ride back to his place.
Arround 25 motivated riders subscribed to the event. With the help of some friends and road captain Jean Biermans the group was lead to us crossing Le Plateau de Herve and Le Barrage de La Gileppe.
The Riders had to endure cold and wet weather conditions which made the challenge double as hard.
After a good break and pasta meal at Le Coffee Ride the road back would be a bit faster crossing the city of Verviers before heading down to the ‘ Maas ‘ valley back to Fixed Gear Cycling Coffee.
The riders would recover with some snacks and Kwaremont cycling beers before heading back home.
